Gert Johan Coetzee

This young man is currently making air-waves. I got feeds saying Hollywood is requesting a GJC original. Well done young man!

Here's a short history of him breaking into Hollywood:
Lelo Boyana of Just Curious was one of the few ladies whose presence was requested at a dinner for the Kardashians when they visited South Africa. She presented the ladies with a dress from GJC.
A few weeks later, the dress was spotted on Red Carpet - or rather blue carpet if you want to be literal - worn by one of the Kardashians (if you know me, then you know I do not know one from the other, other than their fabulous mother Kris - she's beautifully nuts)Now Kristen Cavallari of"The Hills" fame, was also spotted in a Gert Johan Coetzee number after her agents requested it from the designer.

This cute number is from the fabric Gert used in his 2011 winter collection which brings out the beauty of the fabric versus the dowdy version he made for the ramp (read my review of that collection here) - thumbs up! well done!
Now, Gert, can we talk about that sequin bolero, from your 2011 fall collection, I've been nagging you about? Need it before you charge me 3months rent for it.

Spotted: "The Male Marie Antoinette"

I had such a good laugh when I popped my head in to see what entertainment blogger, Mika Stefano, has been up to and was in stitches when I saw what he had to say about one of my looks.

Setting: It was a DeGorge Joburg Saturday afternoon and I found myself at a house I do not even dream of affording (something like R120 or R200million - that's like US$25mil) for a lovely pool party in the plush Sandhurst suburb. I was, naturally still riding on Support a South African brand on Fridays, and my entire outfit was meant to frame a braided belt-cum-summerscarf I picked up at a steal from Two clothing and I polished it off with one of my favourite sunnies by Carducci.

Well, this is what Mika had to say about me and my look, too funny:"Fashion Fundi and Blogger, Maque De Gorgeous was there looking like a male Mari Antoinette. I must say I love his pose, you can see he has been watching America’s Next Top Model…lol…"

That's an extract from his blog, btw, I really had a good laugh at this one! Thanks, I think? lol

PS> I do not watch America's Next Top Model, i guess the show is just too "Fierce" for me.

My hair

Elle Woods (from Legally Blonde) made a captivating speech about the most important thing in America - at any given moment - "my hair". The mane you are forced to wear unless you have chopping, styling or hiding trick and mine, as it happens, has come under the spotlight yet again.

My online colleagues at Frochic did a lovely piece on what adorns my head, my "TWA" (teeny-weeny Afro) as they describe it, hahaha! The pic below is how my "teeny-weeny" afro looks today - ballooned a bit, don u think? (eh, PS> please ignore the background... and my skin breakout - now you know why I'm indoors!)

Trendsetting? we love it!

Well this came as a surprise - a pleasant one at that!

Yours in all things DeGorgeous was spotted at the David Tlale Show sashaying in this once-off gold number. PhoenixStyleConcepts featured me in their monthly newsletter as being bang-on trend, obviously in the fundamental pre-mass-attack phase of trends.
